excess foaming

just had my perker simi-explode after brewing a big porter. so much foam blocked the top perker till the pressure built and the whole top blew off! think I was able to save the beer - took some out and tasted OK. but any suggestions to not have this happen again would be nice

i don't mash - just mini mashes. so i boil6 gallons for about 1 hour the day before. can't smell any chorine by then

priming

reading 'radical brewing' by r mosher. he writes about using 750ml of triple sec to prime 5 gal, for bottling. anyone done that?
