Re: BPR being sold
I'll just have to stock up on PBR while it's still %100 'Murican. As for the Ballantine IPA, I think it's already come out Brian. Beer geek nation did a review on it and apparently it's good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T7eCXDYW5Y&list=UUpACreb1E23Z3anMUkHi0qg Yeah, it is available in the ...

Hopefully that doesn't change the plans for them bringing back the original Ballantine IPA that was announced a month or so ago...

Re: 2014 AHA National Homebrew Competition
Hey Brian, how did you ship your entry.I went to a UPS store and said I was shipping a yeast sample and he said that contains alcohol in it and can't be shipped. I used FedEx. I went with a large FedEx One Rate box. Printed and paid for the label online and just dropped it at the counter at the loc...

Re: Water - benefit and costs of RO
I believe you need the optional KDF filter upgrade to completely remove chloramine. Out of the box the Green filter specs say it "partially" removes chloramine. I don't know to what level that means. I wouldn't stress about it though. I bet most is taken care of. That said I still run the ...

Re: Water - benefit and costs of RO
I'm curious about this too. What kind of receptacle does one use for 20 gallons of RO water from the store? When my brother fills his, he uses something like this: http://www.beveragefactory.com/water/accessories/screw-top.shtml They usually fit right into the store systems for filling. For the cos...

Re: Water - benefit and costs of RO
I'm loving the RO water. It has made a huge difference in my beers and solved an astringency issue I started having. I've been running water for Sam as well and I think he feels the same way. I'd be more than happy to run some water off for you to try a batch with, but as far away from you as I am, ...

Re: Float Switches
I have one like this in the bottom of my HLT so I know when it is empty: http://www.ebay.com/itm/liquid-float-switch-water-level-sensor-stainless-steel-/230877819683?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c163f323 Basically same as your electrical switch but this one has an elbow on it so all of the w...

I brewed it again with a couple minor tweaks, but it will be nearly two years old in June.bwarbiany wrote:Congrats!
Is this all from the same batch that would have to be almost 4 years old now, or did you brew it again?

Re: 2014 AHA National Homebrew Competition
Congrats Brian! That's very cool. When you say 1st round, does that mean that you could actually place different in a future round? First, Second, and Third place beers that score over 30 points progress to the final round, so I assume I will be shipping it off to Grand Rapids to compete in the fin...

Re: 2014 AHA National Homebrew Competition
Not sure if this link will work, but it looks like my Sour Old Ale took 3rd place in the Specialty Category (50 entries) during the 1st round in San Diego! http://brewingcompetition.com/output/print.php?section=default&action=print Pretty happy about that! Edit - looks like that link won't work ...
