Re: Asian Tour Bus and the Beer Bible

The bus ride itself could be quite relaxing as it rocks you to sleep during most of the long hours. We live in a beautiful country and not many people take the time to look around. tour4.JPG We headed east towards Las Vegas first: tour5.JPG Our first destination was going to be Utah's Arches Nationa...

Asian Tour Bus and the Beer Bible

As summer vacation is winding down, I would like to share some information about Asian tour buses, what they have to offer, and some of my vacation pics... If you live near or in an Asian community such as Rowland Heights, Alhambra, or the like, you may have noticed us with our luggage standing in t...

B.F.F. (Brew Friends Forever)

I bought this cheap and pretty neat photo editing app on my iPhone called, "Instagram."

Here are some pics of my B.F.F.
Beavis and Brewfoo. I had a spontaneous itch to brew suddenly last week and posted it on Facebook. It was later in the evening and guess who responded...

This man is Daniel Fernandez. He started homebrewing and writing about it on bulletin boards before the internet. He's a master chef and a head IT security guy for a major company. He is my Brew Idol.

Re: Is This a Safe PBW Replacement?

I was at Costco today and will probably use this and the cheap stuff from 99 Cents Store as a PBW replacement:

Re: Brew Pets

I was over at a fellow homebrewer's house yesterday and met his new turtle for the first time. He already had a small one and recently found a person who was looking for a home for this huge beast. Chris named it, "Zeus."

Re: Pick Your Own Hops Field Trip?

Some of my friends who have grown their own hops locally gave me some to look at (see my avatar). I truly love the look and feel of hop cones. Seriously, I am going to get some hop cones tattooed on my left arm someday. However, I couldn't smell them like dried hop pellets. I don't know much about u...

Re: Meet me for a Drink!

I'm thinking of going to collect my beer someone paid forward at Out of the Park Pizza tomorrow. I want to do the same and pay it back too. I have an IPA my friend, Tommy, made which was a tribute beer to Pliny. He named it, "Plinyken." It was dry hopped with Simcoe, Centennial, and Columb...

Great Beer Liquor Stores

Besides the big boys like Total Wine and Bevmo, there are smaller places around the OC and Los Angeles area that people will sometimes stumble upon which stock some hard to get beers. Let me start with my local favorite in Walnut: http://www.yelp.com/biz/walnut-liquorette-walnut The "Liquorette...

Re: Adding Yeast for Bottle Conditioning

Thanks you. That's a very helpful bit of information. I've guilty of not reading enough about my hobby and finding things out by trial and error. John Palmer did write what I call, the "Beer Bible", so I will take his word as gospel.

Re: dissapointed, and shocked, by my immersion chiller

For us small time brewers, I stick to the $2.00 per 20 lb bag of ice at Costco. Keep it small and simple. An ice bath will do for us, Nick. You've seen it.

Re: Is This a Safe PBW Replacement?

It's so cheap, I'll start using it more often for bottle soaking and general cleaning. Even for everyday cleaning of the kitchen and dishware. My mom loves PBW but now I can give her this stuff.

Adding Yeast for Bottle Conditioning

I only do bottle conditioning with priming sugar (5 oz corn sugar per 5 gallon) and recently had a batch with no carbonation. I either forgot to add the priming sugar altogether or I didn't have enough yeast in the bottling bucket is my conclusion. It was also the first time I had ever tried a new l...

Is This a Safe PBW Replacement?

IMG_4826-1.JPG A friend swore to me that this product at the 99 cent Only stores is the same as PBW at a fraction of the price. He uses it the same as he would PBW and said he cannot tell the difference. One other friend of mine said the same thing but that it is not as effective as PBW so he only ...
