Re: Google+
I'm on there as well. Feel free to look me up. I don't have access at work, but the Safari interface is OK on the iPhone. I hear the iPhone app is pending, but will be out soon.

Growler conditioned?
Has anyone ever tried to growler condition a beer? By that, I mean treat it as a large bottle. Fill as you would a bottle with priming sugar and letting it carbonate... The other question is: what kind of growler... The Bruery style flip tops naturally seem like the best choice because of the seal, ...

Re: Hop Drying Oast design?
Ever think of using A/C filters instead of screens? They stack very well and the creases in the filter would work perfect for keeping the hops separated. I saw Alton Brown use that setup for drying all sorts of foods, including fruits and even meats.

Santa Clara de Asis Third Annual Brewfest (6/10)
Just found out about this last night. A brewfest in my back yard (Yorba Linda). My wife managed to grab some last minute tickets today and so this is how I will celebrate my birthday! I'm not sure how late they will have tickets available and they won't sell them at the door, but if you have tickets...

Re: Chocolate Chipotle Porter
How did you prepare the chipolte peppers? I bought the peppers from a Mexican market called "El Metate" in Fullerton near Addison (on State College just South of the 91). They were dried and came in 1 oz bags. I simply sliced the peppers width wise (to make circles) and then put them all ...

Chocolate Chipotle Porter
For anyone interested, I posted my Choc.Chipotle Porter recipe in the club database. http://www.brewcommune.com/recipedb/recipe.php?r=226 I am going to take Pete's advice and brew this a few more times without the "crazy stuff", as just a robust porter to get the base beer refined and perf...

Re: What did you brew in 2010?
I brewed 12 batches this year, the last 4 being all grain. Total of 60 gallons: Cal Common Ale (I grabbed the wrong yeast) Stout (Rogue Shakespear clone) Double Barrel Ale Apricot Hefe Cal Common Lager (this time I got the right yeast) Levitation Clone IPA - all Columbus hops (3rd place at Addison E...

Re: 2-row only recipes?
I guess that answers the question of using only 2-row for brewing. It makes beer, but not with any style or character.
I tried one of these bottle a few weeks back http://www.rogue.com/beers/single-malt-ale.php and was very disappointed. It was very flat (flavor not CO2) and just didn't taste good.

... 4 1/2 alcohol 8 gravity 29% sugar As for the taste of the beer it was good... I believe you mean that that readings are as follows: 4 1/2 potential 8 Brix (or Plato) 1.029 specific gravity If so, then you should still be fermenting. Final Gravity levels vary by recipe, but for extract brewing, ...

Re: The Mentor on Bloomberg TV
I watched it last night. It was to be expected... A bit dumbed down for a homebrewer. Also, they spent the whole episode talking about a beer/mead made with "natural honey" (complete with bee carcasses), but then blended it with 75% RIS. It might be an interesting beer, but I'll bet my mon...

Could it be one of these models? They were recently recalled due to a capacitor overheating.

When I was in college, we used to get pallets for fire wood from behind the grocery store. Not sure if it was legal.... I'm just sayin'
