Re: New members

Thank you, we bottle Jan 1 which will be the two week mark. I really do like the taste of my first batch of beer but again it's my first batch and I do anticipate lots of mistakes. Thanks again and look forward to many more batches of beer, John Welcome to the club. I'd recommend, as Marotte implie...

Re: help asap yeast starter has fruit fly

Meh, fruit flies don't drink much... But on the other hand they do carry around a bunch of random stuff from the fruit and dung they have landed on. Go buy some more yeast and be happy with your results rather than wonder what have happened if you had pitched clean yeast.

Re: Best way to bulk store mead

Mead is honey wine. So if you are going by a description that calls it a wine, that is prob what they are referring to. But Chaucers is crap either way. A nice varietal mead is a thing of beauty, and a nearly religious experience. If I'm able to make the meeting on tues, I'll bring a few meads.

Re: Where to buy propane burners?

Um, those are natural gas burners, not propane. They will only work with propane with a lot of modification and frustration. On another note... with propane, I'd use a needle valve NOT a ball valve to control the gas. Try these guys for burners and valves: http://www.bayouclassicdepot.com/propane_ca...

Re: Anyone Interested in a Brutus Stand?

Go with the 14". Mine was welded with the 12" bays, and I wish I had gone wider. The kegs can be supported with additional bracing, but if I ever want to go with new kettles and leave the kegs behind, I'll have to rebuild my stand or have a new one built...

Re: Does North Orange County need a LHBS ?

So... I'm finally getting around to brewing my next batch and it just happens that I have to be out in Riverside this weekend, so I figured I'd stop by B3 to grab the ingredients. I'm all about saving money when I can, and I know someone mentioned that brewcommune members get 10% off. As someone ne...

Re: Keging and Co2 usage

I've also had much better luck with quality Co2 tubing. Not the junk they sell at Lowes. You want the thick tubing meant for co2 or beer.
