Re: American Barleywine

Since I brew in my backyard, and now have prevailing coastal winds, it is much tougher to get to a boil. The winds push the heat away from the kettles, and my burners are probably too close to the kettle bottoms.. giving lots of heat wash, and not very efficiently heating the kettles. Yeah, I had s...

Re: Hop Bursting

Thanks Jon. That is interesting since I was planning on using one hop variety (Amarillo). I don't care for Amarillo in the boil, but I love it as a late addition. I think I might try your method - some at flameout and some at 180. Should be fairly easy to control that with my immersion chiller. Out...

Re: WHITE LAB VIALS

You know, I might be interested to take 6... I've seen an interesting use of them as tap handles... Or more accurately, I should take 7-8 to account for screwing something up when I try to modify them! :happybeer: Brad, would you need the labels? Looks like ten of them will get me free yeast! I don...

Re: Hoppy American Wheat feedback

If I were you, I'd enter it just to see, but sadly I wouldn't have high hopes for high scores in American Wheat. Hop-wise, it's likely to be MUCH heavier than expected when it comes to flavor and aroma of the hops, with the late additions and dry-hopping. If there was a wheat IPA under 21B, you coul...
