Re: Cold Crash Conundrum
I've noticed that the compression connection is not airtight around the racking cane. Should it be? I was thinking about putting a valve at the end of the racking cane but it wouldn't make sense to do so if the compression connection wasn't sealed.

Re: Cold Crash Conundrum
Thanks gents. Curtis/Greg, can you think of a way to hook up C02 to the Sanke fermenter kit? I made an adapter from the C02 tank to connect to the blow off tube with a barbed fitting to push the beer out. I wonder if this same setup might work? Would I set the regulator to a minimum, like 1-2 psi? I...

Cold Crash Conundrum
I ferment in a Sanke keg using a blow off tube. I am having difficulting figuring out how to cold crash my beer. For ales I don't worry about cold crashing in the fermenter; I just rack at fermenting temp to the keg and crash it there. But for lagers it is different (from what I've read). Diacetyl r...

Re: BrewBrawl Update
We can guarantee Brad won't win it. I don't think we'll be able to get him past the Orange Curtain much anymore, and any beer he brings will be suspect. He'll say it was on his homebrew/pilot system, but we'll never know. Good thing too, because I was getting tired of his beers.

The second half of the water talk, when he goes full nerd mode on chemistry, and when you've had 6 samples of beer, is a great insomnia cure.maltbarley wrote:Fool me once...BrewMasterBrad wrote:...but it will probably be a short talk...

Temperature controllers
I have two Johnson Controls A419 controllers that need a good home. I'll take any reasonable offer or trade. By reasonable I mean beer, fermented beverages, a pet rock, a carne asada burrito, or other things that make me happy. Money works too, but not required.

Re: All Things GrainFather
My biggest problem with the Grainfather (apart from my initial pump issues, which Bevie promptly resolved by replacing my entire unit) is that it makes for such a pleasant brew day, I want to brew about once a week and can only handle every 2-3 weeks depending on fermentation (and the status of my ...

Re: All Things GrainFather
Good topic Tim. Thanks for starting it. I'll chime in again later when I've got some pictures of my setup as well. Brian, Tim, and I have been discussing brewing similar or the same batches on the Graindfathers and comparing the differences. With the same systems it will be easy to control the varia...
