Re: Pro-Am Brew ... hmmm....

Congratz Chris! I second the holiday brew idea, although I'd probably lean towards a SN Celebration Ale type clone. Any idea how big a batch they are considering?

Re: Motorized Barley Mill

Love the commentator. Was waiting for the standard, "If you call in now, we'll throw in yet another Motorized Barley Mill, and not only that, we'll also throw in this revolutionary pet hair removal glove" or something like that.

Awesome video!

Re: Temperature control options

Would something like this work?? http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Digital-Temperature-Controller-Thermostat-Aquarium-/280563582380?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4152e485ac Wow, that's tempting. What else would be needed to put this to use? Power cord? Something to insulate the probe (guessing not sinc...

... The current case I'm working on is ... I find myself a little worried that someone refers to a case as something they 'are working on'. I find myself working on an occasional keg, but never once have I had to "work" on a case.... uh oh.... C'mon, Jacques Clouseau works on cases all th...

Re: Sept. Meeting 9/21/10 7PM @ Addison HB Provisions/Fullerton

A life without beer isn't much of a life. Best of luck Jon. Hah! Who said I was beerless? I'm short a bit on homebrew, but that doesn't mean I'm dry. The current case I'm working on is the Sierra Nevada Tumbler, their Autumn brew. A very nice seasonal. I picked it up at Target of all places...

Too bad pumping hot water back in wouldn't reverse the damage.

Re: Sept. Meeting 9/21/10 7PM @ Addison HB Provisions/Fullerton

I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make any of the club meetings for the rest of the year. I have night classes on Tuesday and Thursday this semester so I'm SOL. Anyways, if the wife and kid, work, and school don't kill me, I'll continue to troll the boards occasionally and maybe even m...

Re: Plastic coolers / mash tuns used in home breweries

Well, I assumed there wasn't a big issue with coolers since the majority of home brewers use them as mash tuns and if there was an issue, we'd know about it by now right? It sucks not having a firm answer on the PEX tubing but since there is no equivalent "the masses have used it with no plasti...

FYI - I've seen some wooden pallets here
I think they were trash from the frame store right there next to Autobacs.

Plastic coolers / mash tuns used in home breweries

I forked this thread off of a similar thread HERE . Hi Jon, Welcome back. Unless you have some really compelling reason to use PEX, like you have a big roll of it and all the fittings already and it'll be free, just stick with copper or SS. It's proven to work and you'll have the piece of mind of ne...

Re: Polly Alloy PEX Tubing for brewery plumbing

PVC fitting will leach solvents at brewing temps...I would avoid using them in any fashion other than for cold water. It's been a while and the idea never panned out, but the main concern was a health one. Assuming fittings could be Jerry rigged, I would still not want to put something into a syste...
