Re: Club Meeting Notes 11/19/2013

I'd really like to do the BJCP program as well. Depending on the requirements etc, this is something I would consider subsidizing the class or sponsoring it outright. Also when we move here in the next month, I'll have plenty of room to host the classes as well. I don't have the lease signed yet, bu...

Re: ALCATRAZ BREWING CLOSED

Wow... So food for thought here... I've long thought that craft beer is going through another bubble, and that a correction to the market was looming -- the sort of correction that would leave the good breweries standing, but knock out some of the more marginal producers. In a matter of weeks, we'v...

Re: ALCATRAZ BREWING CLOSED

Yeah, really a bummer. Dave just barely got on board there, sucks to see him out of work again. Their location sucks though, it's impossible to park on that side of the Block, then adding that giant new building made it worse.

This is a homebrewing gone wrong story!

When a 61-year-old man with a blood alcohol level of 0.37 percent told emergency room workers in Texas that he hadn't had a drink all day, they were skeptical. However, Dr. Barbara Cordell, the dean of nursing at Panola College, Texas, and Dr. Justin McCarthy, a gastroenterologist, investigated the ...

Re: CO2 tank relief valve

Tanks don't have an OPD per se. They have a 'burst disc' which is a one-shot deal designed to quickly empty the tank if the pressure exceeds the tank limit. Much simpler, no moving parts or springs to fail. If the tank was just filled and in warm weather, it could easily exceed the pressure, especia...

Re: 17.5 AND 24 gallon stainless kettles, $46.99 + shipping

That's a pretty incredible price. One thing that struck me is they list the material as 18/0. There are other typos in the listing so maybe that's one as well, but 18/0, while technically SS, means it has zero percent nickel content. Even 201 SS has .8-3% nickel. That's not a problem in and of itsel...
