Unrestricted Brewing Going-out-of-Business Sale

20% off everything....I think they have to vacate by the end of the month. It's a smaller shop to begin with, but there's still a fair bit of gear and such, plus materials. It's in Mission Viejo near Alicia and Via Fabricante.

Re: BrewBrawl moving forward

I'm not the best person to answer since I've been horrible at attending meetings (I'm trying to do better!) I thought the BrewBrawl was pretty good. I tried to write some comments, but it is tough to type out anything detailed. With the number of beers people brought you're going to have a challeng...

Re: BrewBrawl moving forward

So, IMO, it's really two separate things - Brewbrawl is mostly a fun thing, and getting feedback face to face is a different and more useful thing. I like both (it sounds like this is where you were going, in some form). I can see that a problem will simply be fitting it all in: the group brews very...

Re: Brewcommune X OC Mashups Club Competition

Well, speaking for myself, while I'm bummed we didn't take that cool trophy home, it was still a pretty cool event to arrange - both the competition per se, and getting together with the other club afterward. All in good fun.

Re: Fast carb IPA?

Hey Scott -

I think 30 PSI for 24 hours should get you pretty close. You might want to check it a couple times part way (i.e., shut off the 30 psi source, burp the keg down to serving pressure, and taking a sample with a picnic tap). Good luck!

Gluten-free Brewing

Some of us have friends or relatives who really like beer, but have discovered a gluten intolerance of one kind or another. There's a club in Portland ("Zero Tolerance Gluten-Free Homebrew Club") that's trying to spread the word on techniques. They try to webcast their meetings using Zoom ...

Re: November Club Meeting - GameCraft Brewing Co. - Laguna H

I will be there, with samples of what I will have just turned in for the comp. I'll also likely swing by the Brewhouse a bit earlier, too. Gamecraft does have food available, fyi.

Jim Riding a 100-Mile Fundraiser with Team Barley Forge

Hi - Every year, the Barley Forge brewery puts together a cycling team to raise money to fight MS. I've joined the Barley Forge team for a 100-mile fundraising ride to help change the lives of people affected by MS and drive progress getting rid of it. The ride takes place October 20 - my fundraisin...

Re: Help! Metallic Off-Flavor

Good keg cleaning process tips from Chris. Only time I had a metallic flavor in recent memory was from (I think) a slight over-use of yeast nutrient...now I just skip it altogether. What is your water source? Any changes there?
