Re: Dry lager yeast -- WTF prices?!
I've been noticing an uptick in dry ale yeast pricing as well, and I can say that I'm not a fan of it. As an LHBS owner, do you have any sense what's driving the price up right now? Based on what you can see, is it a temporary shortage in the market, or is this a long-term change? Brad, I've been g...

Re: Dry lager yeast -- WTF prices?!
So I was hoping to pick up some SafLager S-W34/70 to do an Oktoberfestbier. Brewing 10 gallons, needing proper pitch rates to pitch cold, that means I'd need 4x of the 11.5g packs. And those packs are $6.49 each at either Austin Homebrew or Northern Brewer. WTF? That'd be $26 for yeast?? If I chose...

Spoke with Oskaar, he's on from 3pm - 5pm. My guess is he'll be there earlier for Baconmania or Nom Nom.

Re: Oskaar makes mead, June 04, 2011 at Homebrew Provisions
Right on Oskaar! Based on our email conversation, I've been promoting it from 3pm - 5pm. Can you switch from noon to three ? There is an extract beer making demo from 10am - 2pm. It'll be a zoo if we try to cram both in at the same time. Oh and Brew Captain will be brewing All grain all day! I think...

Re: New members
I was so consumed in brewing my beer I forgot to keep a log. I joined BeerSmith and will use that for my next batch this weekend. I'm making Eric's Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and forgot what he calls it. For the record it is called High Sierra Pale Ale and you can thank bwarbiany for the recipe. I have...

Re: Anyone use pin-lock kegs?
I think I saw an add for pin lock -> ball log post conversions from one of the online homebrew supply shops not too long ago. Edit: A bit pricey, but here: http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_163&products_id=2066&zenid=2afa54e0b3ec43fc19a3104ccdf77eb3 I ca...

Re: Food Grade buckets required?
That's my take on it. I sometimes get lazy and use the non food grade plastic bin to wash bottles.backyard brewer wrote:Food grade buckets are not that much more money and easy enough to get that I'm not sure why you'd want to use something else anyway.
