Downtown LA Pub Crawl November 16th

Post by Mosaic1492 »

I am arranging a craft beer crawl/walk through beautiful downtown LA (DTLA).
This will take place on Saturday November 16th.
Intent is to take the Metrolink into Union Station, arriving around 10:30 am.

We would visit Mikkeler (opens at 11), Modern Times, Mumford, Boomtown then Imperial Western.
The last brewery is located at Union Station and the last train leaves shortly after 7pm.

So that's about 8 hours to visit 5 breweries/pubs.
Total walking distance is less than 5 miles.
Union Station to Mikkeller - 1.9 miles
Mikkeller to Modern Times - 0.2 miles
Modern Times to Mumford - 1.2 miles
Mumford to Boomtown - 0.9 miles
Boomtown to Imperial Western - 0.6 miles

Of course, Uber is readily available.

The most challenging aspect will likely be getting you on the train.
I will provide additional information leading up to this.
Good opportunity for us to socialize and get drunk without driving.
At worst, I will have a pleasant day in DTLA on my own.

What, no Golden Road? Just kidding....I did something like this last fall - starting at Union Station. It was a lot of fun, in an area with a lot of history. Looks like a solid plan. For the initial leg, you could actually take the Red Line from Union Station two stops to Pershing Square and walk the remaining five blocks to Mikkeler, if so inclined.

No Angel City - scouted them again back in August - not worth the visit. Average to below average beer, and it's loud in there Tim, you can't hear yourself think.

I just came by to say Angel city is lame! Its more of a club than a brewery.

TRAIN INFO

To get to LA Union Station we take the Metrolink and arrive there at 10:30 am.
Train departs from Irvine (9:08), Santa Ana (9:20), Anaheim (9:30), Fullerton (9:37) and Buena Park (9:43).
A one way ticket is about $8 or $9 depending on where you depart from.
Round trip ticket is double the one way.
You could buy a round trip but the latest departure out of Union Station is 7:12 pm.

Now, there is an Amtrak train (Pacific Surfliner) that leaves Union Station at 8:15pm and 10:22 pm.
That one hour can make a difference.

I recommend you download the Metrolink app for your phone and buy a one-way ticket the night before for the trip to LA.

Also download the Amtrak app to your phone

If it looks like you'll make the 7:12 Metrolink then buy your return ticket with the app and board the train.

If a later departure looks best, then do the Amtrak return. Amtrak is a bit more expensive (about $14 to $17 one way).

If you plan to go, be prepared and download those apps to your phone.
There's train info. Next I will provide details on the 5 places we will visit

Cheers

Planning on being there. Might take the red or purple metro from Union Station to 7th & Fig, to save a bit of initial walking.
