Post by WillL »

Virtual Club Meeting – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19th
~22 people in attendance

Club Bulk Beer Buy
The next club beer buy is Unsung Brewing. Unsung has been great to us in the past and always is a great meeting spot so we are trying to support them this month. Greg has a post up HERE with the details.

June's bulk beer buy will be from fellow club member Lars's new brewery! Broken Timbers Brewing is in Anaheim and a post will be made with the details of the bulk buy.

Calvin's Online Tasting
Big thanks to Calvin for running the beer tasting and having a powerpoint presentation. Around 8 people participated. The next one will be June 9th and the post with details is HERE.

Stay-at-home Content
Calvin posted a thread with some content you are able to stream. CBC Online, podcasts, and more. Check out THIS THREAD for links to the content.

American Homebrewers Association Presentation
John Moorehead was nice enough to take time out of his day to talk with us a bit on the AHA and what they are planning going forward. John is a great guy and shared a lot of good info. He was nice enough to give us a copy of the PowerPoint for those who weren't able to make it and I've attached it here. He also gave us a $5 off coupon, MAYTAKE5, for getting or renewing your AHA membership and gave us a secret tip that it stacks with the renew discount, but shhhhh don't tell anyone. The discount is extended to May 31st as well.

Most of the info he went over in the PowerPoint but he also spoke with us a bit on competitions and what they might look like going forward. They are going over ideas and looking at different formats to make sure everyone is safe. Health and safety, social distancing, limiting contact, sanitizing entries, logistics, precautions, and feedback are just some of the things they have to figure out going forward.

Style Presentation
Malt Liquor
Original Gravity: 1.050 - 1.060
Final Gravity: 1.004 - 1.010
Clix Malt Liquor is credited with being the first malt liquor in the US in 1937. It was originally marketed as high class and beer was working class. Some malt liquors are just slightly stronger than American lagers, while others approach bock strength.
