Mash Mixer Motor

Post by Megastout »

Want to build a mash mixer.
Does anyone have a tip on what low rpm high torque motor would be good?

Maybe an ice cream maker motor?
Has anyone tried that?

Either the ice cream motor or a BBQ rotisserie motor. I think the ice cream one would be a little faster than the rotisserie motor. Both of them should have plenty of torque though with the rotisserie probably having more.

Here is a good place to look for motors http://www.surpluscenter.com/electrical/
Purchased one earlier this year for the "Motorize your grain mill" article in BYO

Thanks for the input.
Hadn't thought about the rotisserie motor. And, since I have one, will giveit a try and let you know how it works.
Also, refer to the article in the newest BrewYour Own covering the subject. I know commercial brewers use them.
Off for another experiment!
