Re: July Club Meeting 7/19/11 (Tuesday) 7pm @ Nobel Ale Works

I'll bring a mini keg of some 8% Strong Ale that Brian C brewed 7 months ago during a club brew day on New Year's Day. I used Edinburgh yeast on this portion.
I'll also bring a bottle of the Hemp Ale that won the Spice ale division at the O.C.Fair

Re: fermenting/serving fridge

A freezer might work for you. You would need to buy an external thermostat. You could set one carboy on the floor of the freezer and then build a shelf above it for another carboy. You would have room left over at the top shelves for beer bottles. Here is a craigslist ad I saw today. http://orangeco...

Re: Mash Tun 'Cooler' w/false bottom .. tubing issues

Have you tried one of these screens?
I use these screens and only had a clog one time. I used compressed air and cleared the clog then it was fine. Now I add rice hulls to all my mashes.

Re: Santa Clara de Asis Third Annual Brewfest (6/10)

I'll be there pouring with Noble Ale Works. They had a good mix of breweries last year. Pretty impressive fest for a church. So many brewfests in June. This one looks great. Lots of photos of last year on their Facebook page. Scott, did you enter their homebrew contest? I already bought tickets for...

Re: keg rack

Any genius ideas for building a rack to hold corny kegs? Something that attaches to the wall or hangs from the ceiling perhaps. Maybe something along the lines of a wine bottle rack. Here's a wood shelf design that will mount to the wall. It may not be too clear since I had to resize the image. she...

Re: Light Struck Wort

Here's some good info on the effect of sunlight on beer. I think I'll keep my wort in the shade. "Beer is highly susceptible to light, and we might add, light from any source. In sunlight, the reaction is almost immediate. The ultraviolet part of the light spectrum breaks down the sulphur conta...

Re: What category is Nut Brown Hemp Ale?

I would like to enter it in both categories as long as it fits the Brown Ale requirements. Is it possible they would disqualify a Hemp Ale in the Brown Ale category or, would they just give it a lower score for not following the ingredient guidelines or, is the Hemp seed an acceptable ingredient in ...

What category is Nut Brown Hemp Ale?

I'm planning on entering my Nut Brown Hemp Ale in the O.C. Fair but I'm not sure which catergory it falls under.
It could be 10C American Brown Ale or 23 Specialty Beer.
Any suggestions?
