Re: The Bruery Batch 300 contest expanded

Received the judges score sheets today.
Tough judges.
My "Old Man Winter" strong ale only got a 30 and a 31.
I had a lot of good reviews on this beer. I thought it would do better.
Oh well, try again.

Re: Argon gas OK in beer?

Thanks for the input. Since this will be my first attempt at kegging, I think I'll play it safe and stick with the CO2. Chris, thanks for the offer to trade but I'll still need my welding gas. From jwards input, it sounds like the argon probably won't carbonate properly. According to nico, sometimes...

Argon gas OK in beer?

I have a tank full of shielding gas for a mig welder that is 25% CO2 and 75% Argon. Is it OK to use for carbonating a corny keg full of Brown Ale? Wikipedia says Argon is non-toxic, oderless, tasteless and that it is used in wine barrels to remove the oxygen for aging. Anyone know the pros or cons o...

Re: BackHouseBrew Blonde Ale

Wow, that's quite a malt bill for a blonde ale. Are you trying to use up some small quantities of grain? Your efficiency looks pretty low, is that what you normally get? If you always ferment at 68 with US-05 it can be an interesting experiment to try different temperatures. US-05 will work great d...

Re: Looking to brew

[quote="ocluke"]Hey guys, if anyone wants someone over to brew with and to split a batch, I'm looking to get a couple more brews in soon, and I enjoy brewing on new systems and getting to see how each brewer "does his thing" (or her thing, whatever the case may be). A few ideas o...

I was late to this game. Where did the video go?

Sorry Luke, I removed the video a while back. But the mill is still at Eric's.

Anyone caught doing that handshake should be fined $20

Re: Aging - room temp or fridge?

50 to 55 seems to be the recommended temp for long term storage.
My cellar doesn't stay cool enough during the summer, so now I am looking to buy a freezer.
Then I'll use an external thermostat controller to keep the inside at 50 to 55.
