fermenting/serving fridge

I'm looking into buying a used fridge for a fermenting chamber. Not sure if I want the standard top freezer, French door bottom freezer, or side by side. 2 things I'm thinking: How much footprint space will I need to house a 6 1/2 glass and 5 glass carboy in the same fridge? Can I stack em? Also, I'...

Re: Hop Drying Oast design?

I looked up the episode with Alton Brown taping the filters together and drying jerky with it. It looked like he had like 3 layers drying on the fan, and it worked well. I wonder how many you could stack before there was too much for the fan to reach thru? Also, with 40 plants worth to dry, I have ...

Re: Orange County Fair Homebrew Competition

My first brew day brad taught me not to fear the foam. I've never thought twice about it. I still have heavy amounts of foam in my bottles when I bottle. I'm at 6 batches now and no medicinal flavors. I'm entering 3 beers into the comp. 12a brown porter. Supposed to be a stout, but something went wr...

Re: Argon gas OK in beer?

I would watch out. Some of my customers use argon as an inert gas to displace air in their furnaces, and the stuff they get has been odorized, like natural gas. I don't know..

Re: 3/15/11 Club Meeting 7PM @ Out Of The Park Pizza (Anaheim)

Had a great time. I saw a couple of welcome familiar faces and met a lot of fellow brewers. Pardon me but it'll take a few meetings to learn names, it doesn't work to learn 30 names within 20 minutes. Oskaar passed around a mead that had aged 8 years. First mead I've ever tasted, and it piqued my in...
