Re: wanted; cheap cornies
Anyone got a wife nagging him to do something with all those damned kegs? I just bought a kegerator super cheap and all I need is a couple kegs and I can get started. Can't find nothing under $50 online. Based on the quick checks I just did with B3 and CHI Company, it looks like you better jump on ...

Re: Sanke Fermenter Kit -- transferring under pressure
Good point. My intention was to release pressure between kegs.JonW wrote:The problem with that Derrin is that you have to switch cornies in the middle of the transfer and with no valve in the QD, you can't stop flow.

Re: Sanke Fermenter Kit -- transferring under pressure
While I don't condone pressurized transfers for the sake of safety with no pressure release valve.... You can remove the keg poppet and the pin in the QD leaving a free path of travel. It only leaves about a 3/16-1/4 pathway but will be far less likely to clog with hops. After transfer, pull the keg...

Re: Smoked Porter
JR made a great smoked porter some time back. He wet smoked the grain himself over applewood and the resulting beer was really good. If I remember righgt, he soaked the grain for about an hour, then dried it over the smoke for several hours. The result was a very pleasant smoke flavor and aroma with...

Re: Standard Bitters
Looks good, I like the hop bill. I know carafoam is supposed to be a direct replacement for carapils, I'm not sure you should need it in a standard bitter, just mash a little warm like 154 and you'll probably get the body you want. I'd like to try it. I'm a fan of simpler beers like bitters that don...

Re: Building a new system.
Personally I like the idea of an electric HLT and a gas boil. An E-HLT can be placed on a timed start to have strike/hot liquor ready to go when you wake up. That's not a (safe) option with gas. However, without the proper fabrication/assembly skill set, you can kill yourself much faster trying to b...

Re: Kegerator tripple tap
Pics of this triple tower? I may need to treat myself to an early xmas present :D It's this one: http://morebeer.com/view_product/16308/102249/Tower_-_3_Faucet_Chrome_3%22_Diam It's in great shape but you'll want new beer lines. The faucet levers were replaced with SS ones. You'll need keg connecto...

Re: Kegerator tripple tap
I have one that will be for sale Nov. 1. It's not in great shape but it works and the tower itself is in good shape with SS faucets. Includes an analog temp controller, chest freezer will hold 6 cornies plus a 5 lb CO2 tank and regs. Does not include tank or regs. It's starting to show a little sur...

Re: B3 deal on quick disconnects...
For the price, the camlock cam and groove fittings really can't be beat and are arguably more sanitary than the B3 SS quick connects. Although the QD's are probably just a little easier to work. I have the comparable part for only $4.25 every day and the mating couplers run $6.25 on average. http://...

Re: Dead yeast help
Two things about this: 1. If it tastes really good, then drink it. Who cares if it doesn't have the right amount of alcohol? If you actually brewed a 1% beer (I doubt it) that tastes really good, I bet there's a huge market out there for you. :happybeer: 2. I cannot imagine anyone describing unferm...

Re: How many carboys do you have?
Hey Brad, thanks for letting me look at the setup. What truly interested me though was that 3 tap kegerator. Did you build that? Because i havent been able to find a company that sells a 3 tap, only 2 tap. EDIT: disregard the question, I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough. I have a 3-tap SS to...
