Re: May Club Meeting at Chapman Crafted Beer - Thursday May 18th, 7pm

Looking forward to it! Not sure yet if I'll have any beer to share. We'll see how things shape up after the fest.

Re: Looking for a keg for this weekend

So, from the other post, I decided to try and carb it with priming sugar since that's all I have. I used an online calculator and made some bottling solution and dumped that into the keg. I hope that's right! Now I'm wondering how I will know if it's carbonated and if it's the right amount of carbon...

Re: Looking for a keg for this weekend

So I transferred my beer (1 gallon... long story) to a keg thanks to Justin a few weeks ago and it's been in the fridge lagering. I need a way to carbonate it before the fest. I think I can maybe take it to Windsor maybe? Any other ideas?

Re: Vanilla Cream Ale

I don't have the capacity in my homebrew pipeline at this stage. Got to empty one keg in order to refill it. :happybeer:

Re: Vanilla Cream Ale

Alright, so, with your feedback I've swapped out the crystal for honey malt and the barley for carapils. I knocked down the wheat and increased the corn to try to make it more in line with the cream ale style. I also bumped down the bitterness slightly. I like the idea of adding lactose but I'm worr...

Re: Vanilla Cream Ale

Hey, thanks for that. I'm definitely shooting for Cali Creamin. I started with a recipe I found online, so honestly don't know what the barley is supposed to do.

Vanilla Cream Ale

Thought I'd do things a little differently and get your guys' feedback * before I brew a recipe this time. I was inspired by Calvin talking about using vanilla at our last meeting. I have some homemade vanilla extract made a few years back during Covid that's been aging nicely, so I thought I'd go f...

Re: 2023 National Homebrew Competition

I brewed an amber lager a couple weeks ago that I'm ready to keg and start lagering. Excited to get some feedback on it!

Looking for a keg for this weekend

Hey everyone, A couple people offered to let me borrow a 5gal keg at the last meeting. I have a batch in the fermenter that just hit FG and I'd like to transfer it to a keg this weekend. I forget who was being generous with their toys, but we'll probably kick it at the brewfest and I'd have it back ...

Re: Mash vs sparge volumes

That's super interesting. One reason I'm interested in this topic too is my first batch I brewed I had a lot of astringency and haven't totally figured out why. I did stir it a lot and was very aggressive with the sparging. Now I just stir to incorporate all the grains when I first mash in, then set...
