Great news Brad and thanks for the update. I think I'll give it a try with my 10 gallons of Kolsch (I'm ignoring the reinheitsgebot for this one!) I'm going to use a bright tank as well. Brad N: I also want to set up to use CO2 to push beer from the carboys in the ferm freezer to a tank. I've heard ...

Yeast for Lagers
OK .. I'm "finally" stepping up to lagers. So my question is around yeast starters for lagers. Seems like I've read that starters are about 4x larger than for ales (I usually pitch a 1L starter for ales and I'm seeing 4-6L recommended). Is this typical of what you guys typically do (Brad a...

You Know You're A Home-Brewer When...
E-mailed to me from another homebrewer ... You Know You're A Home-Brewer When... If you don't think that 10 gallons of beer is a lot. If you've ever used a mop on a ceiling. If you're completely unaware that there's a Michael Jackson other than the beer writer. If you have ever found yourself rinsin...

Also, make sure that your TOTAL Volume is 6 gallons (or close to it) ... that doesn't mean 6 gallons of water necessarily ... but 6 gallons less the volume of your extract. ...

I use a SS thermowell stopper as well when fermenting (previously in my ferm chamber .. soon in my ferm fridge). But another thought is to build a permanent set up like I did for my kegerator. Basically I took a 2 plastic jug, made a copper thermowell in the top, and set it in the bottom of the kege...
