Re: NAS/External/Cloud
Synology.com makes some really nice NAS solutions. If Carbonite let you choose an external device for backup I'd be all over that :) Just remember (and from your post I'm sure you're well aware) that RAID1 (and higher) only provides disk redundancy - not data redundancy (it's a common misconception ...

My temp contoller died I think *sniff*
Even worse, it froze 2 kegs of a 3yr old flanders I was conditioning. One keg (the tastier one at that) was almost full. I was going to finally pull a glass tonight to enjoy when I noticed forzen beer in the gas line, all around the release valve, and body connects :(** I turned it off and will let ...

Re: Hello Brewcommuners!
Duh, it was the regulator (where it screws into the tank) that was loose. I'm not too handy. This beer is pretty sour - in a good way though. Although I think if I had a young beer, blending it would be awesome. Too bad. I got a lot of air when I racked so I'm not sure how long it will hold out... i...

Re: Hello Brewcommuners!
I'll see if I can get a hallpass on the 17th. Unless I can fix my CO2 tank (as soon as I open the main valve it starts leaking CO2 right at the top - not at the regulator) I doubt I'll have anything ready to share. I also was not paying attention and used kegs that aren't really holding good seals r...

Hello Brewcommuners!
I think I need a reintroduction it's been so long. I'm an old BC member who's been on a brewing hiatus for about 3 years now. My name is Mike, and I used to be a homebrewer :) I had have 2 kids - a 4yr old girl and a 2yr old son. It's one of reason's my homebrewing took a back seat. I still see a fe...

I like rubbing alcohol. I'm curious, why would you not want to use it?

Re: Mazer Cup International 2010 - Mead Only Competition
Hmm.. I've got a couple bottles left of that cyser we made 2 or 3 years ago. Maybe I'll enter that and see what scores/remarks I get.
Edit: I didn't see any local drop offs in CA. Pete, can you bring my entry since I KNOW you're going to that or do I need to get it in sooner?

Rob!!! Congrats man! If you need some girl stuff let me know. We have a bunch of stuff we were planning on putting on Craigslist but I'd be happier knowing it went to you (if you need it of course).

Re: Head First
Wow. Aggressive! But I think it'll work out. Very little in brewing is all that "hard", it's just a matter of getting a basic understanding of what you're doing, why, and building on it over time. All-grain adds a few wrinkles to the process, but they're mostly mechanical. Beyond all that...
