Re: Sobering Article
That's why so many new breweries are not relying on distribution for sales. Direct sales in the tasting room are the way to go. Stay local.

Re: DOJ OK WITH SABMILLER & A-B INBEV MERGER
The fallout from this will be interesting to watch. I think, from the small craft brewers perspective, the main concern is that access to distribution channels and shelf space will be limited as a result of the "mega brew" merger. On the other hand, I have seen that several craft breweries...

Re: Cleaning for real
All the bottles were snatched up at the meeting. I would be interested to get feedback once you guys have a chance to use it. I probably won't order another case unless Windsor has trouble getting it in stock.

Re: Outdoor brewing - direct sunlight & boil hops
Part of the extra wort must be due to a low boil-off volume from your boil issues. Hopefully it turns out alright. I used that yeast once and liked it. Maybe I will give it another try after the "year of the lager" is over.

I will try to make it. I will be coming from San Diego, though, so I may be late. Hopefully I will have beer and BS Remover.

Re: Exact iDip Water Testing Kit
Thanks Brad great write up! Cant help but ask a question. Maybe I missed it. I assume you started with RO, and added the salts/acid based on that. Did you use Brun to determine salt adds or some other tool, or did each tool predict about the same add for the amber? BTW I just did my first batch wit...

Re: Exact iDip Water Testing Kit
What were the calculations if you only added about 1 mL of the lactic acid to the mash? And what calculations did you use that told you you needed 3.6 mL? Bru'n Water always tells me to add ~1 mL to mash and 0.1 mL to sparge for 10 gallon batches, so I usually add roughly 1/4 tsp (1.25 mL). But I'm...

Re: Exact iDip Water Testing Kit
Okay. Finally was able to do a full brew day to test out all these new toys. Used my pH meter for the first time with good results. Here's a summary of my methodology. The recipe was a California Common. I had a mash volume of 7 gallons and a sparge volume of 10 gallons. 20.25 pounds of grain. To ac...

I brew in the back yard with no shade I have not had any skunking issues. You can always get an EZ UP if you are really worried about it.

Re: Cleaning for real
Thanks for the info. (I'm amazed by some of the responses on your HBT post) The Five Star website says that it is coming soon, so it may not be available to shops yet. I'd be interested in a bottle, if it's not available locally. Yeah, there are some trolls on HBT. They probably make bad beer too. ...
