Re: Gas ball lock connector with check valve
The separate check valves are an interesting option too. Thanks for the tip about these being taller than normal, one of mine is a pretty tight fit in my kegerator.

Gas ball lock connector with check valve
I was flipping through a catalog last night and saw these. They're kind of pricey, but it would be really handy to not have to worry about beer shooting up into your gas line. Has anyone used these?

Re: 2013 Pacific Brewer's Cup
Got my scores back... Oktoberfest: 30/30/25/22. Interesting that the 22 told me "check sanitation" but had ZERO comments anywhere about sanitation issues. The 25 and the 22 both picked up DMS. I think the biggest dings I got were that it was not malty enough. Interesting as it was 47% Mun...

We also have a really cool event coming up on November 2nd at Beach City Brewing that would be a good opportunity to come out and meet some club members.

Re: Picobrew Zymatic
I think 208 is probably sufficient, water boils at 203 in Denver and they seem to be able to make good beer there. I don't know if it would make a difference for break formation, etc without the actual boiling motion in the kettle. How do you add yeast nutrient? Finings? I just don't understand who ...

Re: ALCATRAZ BREWING CLOSED
This is how I see it too. These places were very much restaurants that happened to have some level of brewery attached to them. Neither one was particularly focused on beer, at least not recently. Restaurants fail all the time and that is probably what's happened in these cases.

I'm not going to have time to bottle and drop off for this one, bummer. Good luck!

I'd enter both. If you only want to enter one, I'd guess 19.4 based on your beer and the descriptions.

Re: IEBC Southern California Homebrew Championship
I just got my scoresheets and ribbon in the mail. It's really nice to get them so quickly. bwarbiany, I'll scan and send the scoresheets for the Imp. Milk Stout on Monday. In 13F it got 37/34/38 and in 23A it got 35/35. Most of them said it was either too sweet or that it needed more bitterness to b...

Re: IEBC Southern California Homebrew Championship
Congrats on BOS Brad, you're making a habit of this! Those hops were actually used in a pale ale I entered in 10A. I like it better than the IPA, but it's a bit on the cloudy side. I'm looking forward to checking out those scoresheets. The IPA was at the fest, it's all gone besides a few bottles now...

Re: Need help finding a competition
I'd be happy to fill out a scoresheet if you like, and we can even print them at my house! If you'd rather just talk about it, that's fine too.
I guess I really better get on that automation project if I'm supposed to be filling out scoresheets while I'm brewing!

I'm entering 6B, 6D, 10A, 14B, 13F, 23. I may be entering up to 3 beers in 23. I haven't decided yet.
