2014 BJCP Style Guidelines
Take a look at these slides from a presentation that was apparently given at the AHA conference on the 2014 Style Guidelines. http://www.bjcp.org/docs/NHC2014-styles.pdf I think the changes mostly make sense, although some are a little baffling. If you think it's hard to judge the Specialty category...

In that case, I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this at this year's event...
Re: BrewPi
So, for the BrewPi you need a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, plus the BrewPi arduino shield? By the time you've bought the BrewPi case, you could just about purchase a BCS-460 that would be able to control both your kegerator and freezer (if you could run wires between the two). I may be biased on this one....

Re: Water - benefit and costs of RO
RO water is 25 cents a gallon at the market. I have been buying it for drinking at home and mixing with tap water for coffee. At 25 cents a gallon an RO filter can be a lot to monkey with. I've been thinking more and more about doing this... I think given that price, I'll have to give it a try... I...

Re: Storing half empty kegs for a while .. over carbing issu
Are you giving the keg time to cool down and let the gas that came out of solution time to go back into solution? I'll usually put the keg into the fridge and let it sit there for a day or so before hooking up the gas and that seems to work fine. The only time I've seen the carbonation level increas...

Re: Converting 60 qt cooler for fly sparging
I used a 60 qt cooler with a hose braid doing batch sparges for several years with great results. Now I'm on a 3 vessel single tier system and I fly sparge because it was easy to set up and makes it a little easier to do step mashes or maintain mash temp. I'm actually tempted to go back to batch spa...

Re: Brewer's Friend
I am still using it, but I'm a little hesitant to recommend it right now. The original owner/developer recently sold the company/site to the company that owns HBT. Since then development seems to be at a standstill and communication is not what it used to be. There's a guy who comes on the forum to ...
