Yup, I filled up at Windsor too.

Re: OCMU vs Brewcommune REMATCH
So - I have a Sapporo clone that I just started lagering yesterday - yeah, we made it with cereal-mashing some rice - worth entering (in category 34?), or, don't go there? Based on the info on Sapporo's web site I don't think a Sapporo clone would meet the 1.040 OG requirement, looks like it would ...

Re: Adjustments to IPA recipe for using Kolsch yeast?
I don't do anything special other than fermenting at kolsch temps like you noted. I think that yeast works great for IPA!

Re: Fermenting under pressure
When fermenting under pressure, how do you handle dry hopping and racking? For dry hopping, I try to do it before fermentation is complete so the yeast will scrub any O2 that gets introduced. Like Curtis, I vent the pressure, add hops and add CO2. I recommend venting the pressure very slowly, over ...

I did have to promise this!CurtisG wrote: We can make you one though! just promise you won't blow yourself up
I suspect the o-rings/compression on the racking cane would give way before the keg exploded, but both could be catastrophic if you were in the wrong place.

Re: Fermenting under pressure
I'm using a Sanke keg with the Brewer's Hardware Sanke kit, but got it customized to have a threaded connection for the blowoff tube and a TC connector on the racking cane so I can attach a ball valve. I bought a spunding valve from Windsor and took it apart to connect to the threaded blowoff to man...

Re: BJCP 2015 - what would you call this?
I almost said American Brown Ale looking at the recipe, but 2# of C-40 had me leaning towards Amber. Amber is also tough because it's such a broad category it leaves you more at the preference of the judges.
Brew what you like. Competitions are their own thing.

Session IPA
This is the recipe for the Session IPA I shared last night at the meeting:

The Centennial (Cryo) is actually Centennial Hop Hash, but the software doesn't have that option. Cryo would be a good substitute but I'm not sure how much to use.

At a glance I'd say:

Re: BrewPi Group Build Day?
I'm fermenting in a sanke keg with the Brewers Hardware fermentation kit. The iSpindel is too large to fit through the opening.

Re: BrewPi Group Build Day?
I like the iSpindel idea but talking to Sam I realized that it won't fit into my fermenter.

We still need both judges and stewards for the competition. The judging will take place 5/18 at Chapman Crafted.
You can sign up to judge or steward on the competition web site at https://competition.brewcommune.com

Re: Keeping track of recipes
Brewfather will make a copy of the recipe unique to the brewday that you can make modifications to without changing the base recipe. That's what I'll use for minor modifications based on ingredients I have on hand. If I'm making a recipe for a style I've done more than once I'll sometimes use the na...

Re: Survey - Packaging Beer
The brulosphy article was quite interesting, thanks. I only used SMB before when doing the mead to retain a certain level of sweetness. Also, interesting to me was the use of a BIAG for mashing which is exactly what I employ. Since I bottle condition, I don't purge the bottles with CO2, assuming a ...

Re: Survey - Packaging Beer
I'm not entirely sure what you'd classify my process as... I push the beer from the fermenter to the kegs using CO2, but it's not really a "closed" transfer as I don't really purge the kegs of O2 before transferring. I use a long 3/8" beverage tube so that the fill goes to the bottom...
