Ah, the comment about leaving the beer out for Santa Claus took me back to my childhood. It was a tradition in my family to leave out a couple of bottles of beer and a plate of cheese and crackers for Father Christmas (ie. Santa Claus for Australians). I thought nothing of it as a kid. We came out C...

Thanks for the replies.

BTW if you are also a Pliny fan, Russian River intends to start putting it in bottles once they square away their move to new brewing premises!

Basic Yeast Starter Question

Have been given a kit (Porter) from B3 as a present and it came with the standard White Labs vial of liquid yeast. I have never bothered to make a starter with these vials in the past, but I would like to try it this time around. My understanding is basically what I want to do is create a small wort...

I went to one last year sometime. If you go, go early - be there for the first race and get in and get your drinking done. If you do that you will be able to walk up to each brewer and there will little to no lines. Once it gets to about 1pm or after, forget about it. The place turns into a zoo of K...

SWMBO (who went to college in SLO) says there is another beer bar called the Frog & Peach that is reasonable.

Also, there is Morro Bay Brewing Co, but has limited hours in the winter (tourist based area) so call ahead.

That's pretty bad.

I saw this gift pack of soda at Hi-Times last year, but decided against it when I saw the "Christmas Ham" flavored one on the far end. Blech.

I visited Firstone in Buellton - they have a bar and also a restaurant at that location. The restaurant was closed at the time we were there, but it looked somewhat upscale, something SWMBO might not be offended by. There is SLO Brewing in San Luis. There was also a beer bar in SLO called Spikes las...

Not to mention they come from Adelaide, Australia - my home town, so they must be good.

21st Amendment in SF makes a watermelon wheat that they sell in cans, but they don't distribute to So Cal yet. They hope to be distributing down here sometime in 2008. I've heard it's quite tasty, but I've never had it. I had it last May when I was up there for JavaOne. The watermelon flavor is ver...

I have been a Patriots fan since the early 90s back in college in Australia (long story). So obviously I want and expect them to win this weekend. But mostly I want them to win to avoid all of the endless bullshit sports show discussions and debates that would go something like this "the Patrio...

Moving To Kegs

Hey,

Thinking about moving to kegging (as apposed to bottles) in the near future.

Looking for guidance on what equipment I need to consider buying in general. Also any suggestions of where to buy the stuff from (including 2nd hand options).

Thanks!
