Re: Just Joined
welcome. Trust me the hydrometer directly in the beer is just one of the many mishaps you will have. at least that one isn't messy. I usually make a huge mess or something rediculous like that. Good luck and welcome.
Re: yeast ?'s
I was making a starter for the batch I am going to brew on friday. The starter is bubbling good but thr beer still has no action. Hopefully it was just a slow vial of white labs.
yeast ?'s
So i was brewing and making a starter at the same time the beer I was brewing was in the sink cooling and icracked the yeast for the starter. It poped and flung some yeast into the wort. The yeast that I pitch should dominate it as long as here is more cells right?

Re: HLT
any suggestions on a pump? cost vs quality? would it be easier/cheaper to just buy a keg, modify it, and buy another burner ?
Empty keg

Re: HLT
I guess I could fill the HLT then put the lid on and lift it then. Is there an easier way that more inexpensive than a pump such as an electric heater?

Re: Extract Brewing, delayed extract addition and other tips
I only worry about doing this on lighter colored beers. On the beers that are like porter, stout, dunkelwiezen, brown's, etc. I wouldnt worry about it so much.
