American IPA
Heya, Just wanted to share this recipe I brewed at the end of August. I put it in the keg mid-Sept, force carbonated it, and then stored it until this week. (Finally emptied one of my kegs in the kegarator .. so I I swapped it in! :happybeer: ) This was AG#5 for me (and my 1st attempt at dry hopping...

Re: Perlick Faucets
I have one of the new faucets on my kegarator tower. So far it has worked perfectly. :happybeer: I've never used the previous model, so no good comparissons, other than I agree with Kevin ... I think it is a replacement (and thus better right?!) of the previous edition. I had also tried their new mo...

Re: 日本の生ビッル (Japanese draft beer)
P.S. Other random trivia...John/Jon is one of the most popular names to give a pet Dog in Japan. I am essentially the Fido of Japan. That is hilarious! Although I've yet to meet a dog named Fido anywhere .. ;) Thanks for sharing the cool tidbits on Japanese culture! While I pegged you for a...

Re: Converting a extract blonde ale kit into a honey blonde
Hey Jon,
I take it this was the honey blonde you brought to the September meeting right? That was real tasty! It came out well!
Which honey option did you finally decide upon?

Re: Cleansing and sanitation schedules
As above. I liked what jward said, "If its not clean, its not sanitary." I clean everything well at the end of the brew day, using a soft cotton washcloth to avoid scratches. Also, I used to sanitize everything before brewing. Better to be safe than sorry! However, I am now seeing that I w...

This was my first time seeing a brewcommune style presentation, and it was awesome! Jward or Brad have a tough act to follow....

Re: Hop Growing
Wow Dan! Very nice! What are the construction elements of your trellis there? Did you just drive the wood posts into the ground, or did you pour cement footings?
Impressive! Thanks for posting that!

Re: American Wheat recipe
Hey all, Just a quick update on this one. Its only been in the keg 3 weeks, but I'm making a serious dent in this delicious beer! :happybeer: I am really happy with it! I'm not really a light colored beer drinker, but this has been a fun refreshing drink that I just keep coming back to. Initially, t...

Re: Chilling your wort
Never tried ice directly into the wort. Would be nervous about infections and all that... When I was doing extract batches and small boils, I would buy two of the 2.5 gallon bottled waters at the market. I'd put one of them in the freezer when I was starting to prep for my brew session. I'd use the ...

Re: Seattle brews
Thanks for the great suggestions all! Seattle was a blast! My entire family really enjoyed the trip! It was a nice change to find someplace that appealed to everyone in the clan! Gotta say that we had amazing seafood up there! Oysters, clams, mussels, lobster, halibut, etc. Also, the Sci-Fi musem at...

Seattle brews
Hey all,
I am visiting Seattle for a few days with the family. Definitely plan to visit the Red hook brewery. Anyone know of some local brews I should seek out?

Very nice Mike! I like! I like!
So, the pump is just circulating the cold/ice water through the submersed chiller .. thus chilling the entire water space. Nice... How big of a ice chest are you using for the ice water & pump?
