Re: Perry New Year!
The yeast was actually Lalvin 71B, as noted in my original post. (My Blueberry Blossum mead used the D47). The 71B has stronger malolactic fermentation power, and ester production. And it was an easy fermentation to boot!lexuschris wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 2:41 pm The fermentation was clean, and the D47 was a great choice.

Re: Perry New Year!
Ok, so after letting it sit in a mini-corny these past few months, I hooked up a picnic tap to flush out any sediment, and got a chance to taste this pear melomel. PerryNewYear_s.jpg The clarity is not fabulous, which is not much of a suprise. Granted this was literally a quick pour after taking 5 o...

Re: Perry New Year!
I transferred it to a mini corny keg and put it on CO2 before SCHF.... but have not sampled it properly yet. I'll get to that this weekend and post something up!

Re: Club Commercial Brew Project
Good to hear what folks are doing with their wort! For me, I decided to try turning it into a California Common inspired beer for the Club Bragging Rights competition at SCHF. Basically, I made a recipe using the grain ratios used at by BRC, with a plan to steep additional color/flavor grains, then ...

Re: Club Brew project
Very cool Ro... I've never used that yeast, but it sounds like a great fit for a juicy hazy IPA! I'm not sure what I will do with my wort yet. I'm tempted to do a small volume steep, then boil with more hops. I've never done a Cali Common, but that may be the direction I go. OR, I may just pitch som...

Greetings all! Spring and SCHF is right around the corner! This is an amazing weekend, and something you should at least look into! For 2024, they are returning to Vail Lake Resort near Temecula. Some folks camp, some drive in, some stay local. Friday night is commercial brewers pour and campfire cr...
