4th of July discount for OC Fest of Ales.
Last year was a lot of fun, and a pretty good event considering it was their first year running it.

I ran it and drank it last year with Tim. It was a nice little fest. I'll be running and drinking again this year.
I have not yet begun to defile myself.

Looking forward to this event on Saturday! Who else is going?
I got 2 entries in the competition as well. They are supposed to announce winners at the show around 1:30pm!

I just noticed that the VIP tickets are supposed to be let in around 10:00am... and the event goes to 4pm! Wow that's a long beerday!
Looks like I'll be arriving around noon due to my kid's soccer game in the AM. Guess I'll only have 4 hours to taste 85 brewery's beer!

OC Fest of Ales was a really good time yesterday! Always great spending time with BrewCommune and sampling so many great beers!
Congrats to SamIAm and Brian for taking a 1st place in the Homebrew competition for their ale! Results have not been posted yet, so I'm not sure which category it was.
Also, my wife took a bunch of photos and I uploaded them here on Google+.

I gotta say... One of my original reasons for getting into brewing some 20 years ago was to make my own mead... and I sucked at it for a very very long time. I've had dozens of failures, but when I joined Brewcommune, I finally had a chance to compare notes with some great meadmakers here in the club! I've learned a ton from them!
I've only made 2 meads since joining Brewcommune, but they have both won awards and are my favorite efforts to date!
Many thanks to Pete, Lars, Brad, John and others who have helped me improve my meads!
