Hiking The Bridge To Nowhere

Thinking of doing this hike at some point this spring, especially since my in-laws are in Glendora and could entertain the wife & kids while I go...

Maybe followed by a visit here to reward ourselves for all the hard work?

What do you guys think? I'm thinking weekend of Apr 21 or sometime early May (after SCHF, of course). Get it before it gets too hot, but hopefully warm enough to make the river crossings bearable.

(Note: I'm *not* an accomplished hiker -- so if you're hardcore, be aware that it might be a more leisurely pace than you're used to. But the flipside for other amateurs like me is that you shouldn't be scared off like this is the Bataan Death March or anything.)

I can't do links on my phone. Is this the bridge in the big sheep wilderness on the east fork of the San Gabriel river? If so I've done that hike many many times. Love it. Its about 5 miles in. When you get to the little bridge you're about 1/3-1/2 way in. Watch out though because its really 5 or 10 little trails that cross each other multiple times. Some take you to the top of the bridge And some to the ravine below. There's a "staircase" to your right you won't want to miss if you want to go to the bridge itself. Its not a staircase at all, just a steep slender trail up and away from the riverbed. If you see a bunch of bungees jumpers you're going the right way.

So... Obviously this didn't quite happen 3 1/2 years ago when I first suggested it. But now I'm much more determined to actually make this happen, and feel the need to actually put it on a calendar...

Just make sure you check the weather, you don't want to get caught up there if there's rain nearby. They fished a body out of there just a couple months ago from a flash flood and the trail crosses the stream several times.

Thanks for the heads-up... I was definitely going to make it contingent on weather.

Now let's never speak of this again, especially not around my ever-anxious wife!
