We're patching to the latest version of php but experiencing a few bugs.
We'll be back up shortly.

Re: Sorry Folks!!!! We're down for a few!
The site is now back up and working, but I have some bad news for many of you. Those of you who originally registered on the forum and not in joomla (our older members) have apparently had your passwords reset to the md5 hash of your old password. This really sucks. If you're having problems logging in, this is why.
How to fix it? Two options:
1. Click on the 'Home' link, then click on the 'Forgot your password?' link. Follow the instructions and you'll be able to reset your password.
2. Find something that calculates MD5 hashes. (For example: http://people.eku.edu/styere/Encrypt/JS-MD5.html) Put your password in, calculate the hash and use that to login, then change your password.
Why did this happen?
I wanted to upgrade us to the latest version of phpBB3 to keep us up with security patches, etc. The database upgrade script for phpBB3 going from 3.0.4 -> 3.0.5 apparently contains this bug. I couldn't find anyone else complaining about it, but looking at the code it's pretty obvious what it did. This may have only affected sites that were originally upgraded from phpBB2 -> 3, but I can't confirm that.
Is there any good news in all this?
Yes, we're now on the latest version of phpBB3 and Joomla. We also have better bridging software between the two.
There may be some kinks due to this setup, I apologize and I'll work to get them resolved ASAP.

Ok, I believe I figured out a way to get everyone logging in again by restoring the hashed passwords from the backup. I nuked my user and tried it and it seemed to work for me. I think everyone should be good to go now. If you already followed those instructions above, even better!

It looks like I was logged back in to the balance of the site this morning without doing anything.

I just reset my password when I couldn't log in. But do we not have the ability to change our own passwords now? It should be in the Profile page of the User Control Panel right?

It took me a while to find it. You can passwords if you go to the home page and follow the "Your Details" link near the bottom of the page. I suspect that's because we use a common password with Joomla and you need to change it via a Joomla page.kevinham wrote:I just reset my password when I couldn't log in. Re: Sorry Folks!!!! We're down for a few!
That's correct, John. Sorry about the confusion. This new software looks to be better at managing the passwords between phpBB and Joomla, so we may be able to re-enable these functions in the forum. This is one of the things that I need to explore.jward wrote:I suspect that's because we use a common password with Joomla and you need to change it via a Joomla page.

A few people have reported issues logging into the site again starting yesterday. If you're having issues, the first thing to try should be to clear your cookies. You can follow these instructions if you don't know how to do this. Please delete any cookies with brewcommune.com in them. Do not use the 'Delete all board cookies' link at the bottom of the forum as this will not delete all of the relevant cookies.
Thanks,
