So, I found myself at a fundraiser for the Irvine Public School Foundation (IPSF) a few weeks ago. A nice affair, with cocktails & dinner inside the corporate Kia headquarters off the 5 freeway in Irvine. Turns out they had an item called 'Brewer for the Day", courtesy of Back Street Brewery.
Yeah, I won that. My wife made sure that I won that.
Originally, it was supposed to be a chance for someone to learn about brewing ingredients & (with the brewer) pick a beer style. Brew it together, and take home 2 cases while the brewery serves the beer at the pub.
It sounds like they are agreeable to me coming in with some recipe ideas, and I'm kinda at a loss for what I style & recipe & should home in on. They already server a Blonde, Red, Pale, IPA, Stout & Hefeweizen.
I'm sure tempted to ask for an Old Ale, or Scottish 70? Perhaps a dopplebock? Or hey, a vienna lager? or Calif. common?
Not sure what my limitations might be, but thought I'd solicit some ideas form everyone.
If we time it right, perhaps it will be ready to serve over the holidays. I might try to angle a Holiday party for the club at one of their sites too...Let me know what you think...
