Oct/Nov Club Brew Day & "Learn to Homebrew" Day - Sat. 11/1

Post by JonW »

The October/November club brew day has now been posted as an AHA "Learn to Homebrew Day".
http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/a ... te_id=1966

Instead of a closed (members only) brew day, this brew day will be open to all Brewcommune forum members and members of the public that wish to see how homebrewing is done. This is a good opportunity for Brewcommune to meet and talk with new brewers and to do some recruiting.

The October club brew day will be at my house on Saturday 11/1 starting at 9 AM. You can come at any point throughout the day.

I will be brewing 2 back-to-back batches. Megastout (Tim) will also be bringing his all grain system and we'll get to see his new motorized mash stirrer. Curtis will be doing a BIAB and Maltose Parrot (Tony) will also be brewing extract. If you are interested in bringing your equipment to brew, this can easily be accommodated (even if you need a natural gas hookup). Please let me know prior though if you need the NG.

Not sure what I will have for lunch, but it will likely be either pulled pork or smoked chicken.

Please reply to this thread if you plan to attend so that I can plan appropriately for food. If you've never been to my place, you can see the address in the AHA link above (Please RSVP though).

I'll be there, but I have plans at noon so I won't be able to stay for the entire brew day.

I will be there and probably bring my modest brewing setup with the mash mixer.

Very cool! Do you use propane? I'll have a carbon water filter you can use (that's what I use) and an additional water hose you can use for chilling.

I plan on attending and will bring up 4 to 6 newbies. Is anyone demonstrating a partial?? If not maybe I could.

If you want to do a partial, please do!

Current brews are:
JonW - All grain
Megastout - All grain
CurtisG - BIAB
Maltose Parrot - Extract

On another note.... I have one popup and we could probably use another if someone has one.

People should also bring some chairs. I'll have a couple, but we could use more.

Edit - I listed Tony as extract, but my guess is that he is also partial grain.

Count on me for a pop-up and several chairs (up to 8.)
@Tony-are you doing a partial?

If you consider steeping the specialty grain as partial, the answer is yes.

I need to check with the boss. If she is working on Saturday, I will be there.
