Virtual club meeting in April!
Hello,
This virus has frustratingly shut down everything including our club meetings that many of us look forward to every month. I, for one, miss all of your faces and beer talk. I've had some suggestions for holding a virtual club meeting in April and we are going to go for it! The meeting will take place via Zoom on Thursday, April 16th at 7:00 PM. Virtual meeting technology has vastly improved over the past 2 years and Zoom is user friendly for just such an event. We would conduct the meeting as usual and Justin would perform a style presentation.
Style presentation will be Vienna lager. We have the budget to purchase a 16 ounce can of Vienna from Skyland Ale Works for the first 30 paid club members who reply to this thread who would like to participate in the meeting.
Here's how this will work: If you are a paid club member, reply here that you are interested in participating in the style presentation by tasting a Skyland Vienna lager along with the club during the presentation. On or around April 11th, I will pick up the Vienna Lagers from Skyland and have them available for pickup in Yorba Linda between the 12th and the meeting on the 16th. (Note: these cans will be wiped down thoroughly with antibacterial wipes).
As an added bonus, the AHA has reached out to homebrew clubs and offered to make available an AHA staff member to discuss one or more of the following topics related to HomeBrewing:
* All about the AHA
* Competition organization & judge training
* History & current state of homebrewing in the US
* Homebrew club best practices
* Ideas for great club events
* Lager brewing tips
* State homebrew legislation tactics
If you are planning on attending the meeting, please respond to this post and provide what topic(s) from the above list you are interested in hearing about from the AHA. (Note: there is no guarantee that the AHA will have someone available on the 16th at 7 PM, but we will make every attempt.)
Finally, as I will already be heading to Skyland to pick up the beers for the style presentation, I was thinking it makes sense to set up a bulk purchase for the club that I can pick up while I am there for the style presentation beers. If you are interested in purchasing beers from Skyland that I can pick up for you, see this post on the bulk buy: http://www.brewcommune.com/forum/viewto ... f=2&t=3670
Stay tuned for more info and relevant links for the Zoom meeting,
Greg

Very cool! I'm in!
Any of the topics would be good, but I like the idea of AHA info, club events or judging.

I'm in! Also, on the tournament front, it looks like we will have to hold it off until we can all meet together again. Hopefully it will be sooner than later.

Haven't been to a meeting in quite some time. Why not a virtual one?
Interested in history and competition.
