Which Micro Breweries / Brewpubs to visit near Portland, OR

Post by JonGoku »

I will be on business trip next week and will possible have a free afternoon near Portland, OR. I'll have some Japanese business men in tow, so I'd prefer one with a more formal tour as apposed to the hole in the wall tap house type.

TIA

In Portland? You could probably hit a different one every day for a month. :)

Deschutes seems like an obvious choice, or Widmer. Lucky Labrador, Alameda, ...

This is probably better since it's from someone who actually lives there:

Thanks for the advice. We ended up hitting Widmer for lunch. They had a nice restaurant, food was good, I liked their seasonal W10 Black IPA the best.

Besides customers on this trip and not counting Anchor Steam at the San Francisco airport, I hit:
Triumph Brewery - Princeton, NJ
Sam Adams - Boston, MA
Harpoon - Boston, MA
Cambridge Brewing Co. - Cambridge, MA
Widmer Brothers - Portland, OR

The bartender at the Harpoon tasting room turned out to be a huge fan of The Bruery and says he contemplated becoming a Reserve Member but had no way of picking up the monthly or bi-monthly beers as they do not send out of state. When I initially asked him if he had heard of The Bruery he immediately asked if I meant the one owned by Patrick. Anyways, I got his name and email address if anyone from The Bruery wants to send a perk to a big fan on the other side of the continent. I guess he has some family in California who he has send him beers.
