Next meeting?

Post by Greywolf »

Was wondering when/where the next meeting was planned, if there is one planned... at this time.

Are we gonna have our American Amber competition at this meeting? I recall a discussion about the winner submitting a keg for the SCHF competion.

Wasn’t there also talk about a stout competition?

Just got this the other day from the SCHF folks,
A while back someone ask the question as to which BJCP style guide to use for this year's Bragging Rights Competition. To keep the competition simple we will be using 9D or Irish Red Ale. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

So, the category is not American Amber Ale, which is kind of a bummer.

To go along with the stout tastings we did last meeting, the next was going to be a comp for stouts.... at least that's what I thought I had heard, as I have a stout coming of drinking age...

So, does anybody have an Irish Red available for a Brewcommune comp? Assuming there's not enough entries by our next meeting, when can we have a comp? Now I'm thinking about brewing one this weekend...

Both of my fermenters are full, having brewed twice over the holdiay weekend (Brown Porter and Vienna Lager). I'm afraid I am out for this one.

Likewise, I have no interest in brewing an Irish Red Ale.

I was really getting excited about doing a hoppy red rye ale for this, as I've been neglected to brew my RyePA for a while and thought I could do a similar enough recipe to know what to expect and turn it into a red/amber ale. I might still brew that, but it sucks that I won't be able to use it for this comp...

I got an email forwarded to me today that all bjcp red styles will be accepted at schf bro comp. Still leads to confusion because the only bjcp reds are Irish and Flanders. It certainly seems like a redact of the above message.

I thought we were discussing a whole seperate meeting for the red comp. Early/mid March is a little early for mine. I was planning on dryhopping next weekend to bottle and keg late March. Don't want those hops to fade before early may for the fest. I'm thinking since You hand deliver the entry the Friday of the fest then mid early April is the best time to pick our entry.

here's the email i was referring to:
At yesterday's CHA meeting it was decided to expand the Bragging Rights Competition style to include all the reds within the BJCP style guide. With 68 days left before the fest you all should have time to brew the style you prefer. Sorry for any inconvenience.
