Kveik Yeast?
Has anyone tried it - what did you make, and was it good?

Re: Kveik Yeast?
I've tried a couple beers from breweries that used that yeast. They were clean. According to what the brewers said, it finished really fast and they just the temp rise naturally with no temp control (some got to over 90F).
I, however, am still skeptical and I have not used it myself yet.

Thanks - I might give it a try on a Saison - but will probably control the temp to something in the 70s. If it works, it could be a useful thing for folks without temp control.

Not sure if Saison is the best choice for this yeast since it is so clean. Saison is a very yeast driven style.

Point taken - gonna look into this and see if I can make something good with it.

I have been reading some positive results from people using it with mead. Like Brad said you want to use it where you want a clean fermentation. I expect it will be a win when it's hot and you don't have temperature control.

Re: Kveik Yeast?
There was a Helles at the Homebrew fest that was split into two kveik yeast fermentations: 75* and 98*. While the 98* batch wasn't as good as the 75* batch, it still tasted reasonably ok. While there were some esters, they were very low.
I'd like to get my hands on that yeast and have some fun.
