How to make a jockey box

So I waffled on buying Lars's jockey box (I wanted 2-3 taps) and that got me thinking about making one. Found this link in case anyone was looking to make their own, which I will probably do:

Eric, if you are really interested in building one, contact Lyn (spkrtoy). He has built a couple jockey boxes (including our club's 6 tap box) and probably has most of the parts you will need. I am sure he would be glad to help you out.

Hey all,

I'm working on a building a jockey box using a SS Igloo or Coleman 54qt cooler. I was curious as to how to pick the right beer shank for the taps. Here is what I have been looking at.

I assume the nipple is just a built in 3/16" hose barb and that I can use 1/4" beer tubing for this? The cooler wall is about 1" thick, so is a 2" shank enough?

I'm probably going the cold plate route with 2 lines. I just want a nice little jockey box for parties & picnics, etc. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Do you think the 2" shank, will accomodate a 1" wall sufficently?

I know the 2" is from tip to tip... maybe I should just go up a size and not worry about stick in a bit further..

According to Chi Co the 2" shank has a max wall thickness of 3/8"
The 3" shank max wall is 1-3/8"
The link your post shows the Nichol plated brass. If you can find stainless, that would be the better choice
