Show us your brew system!

Post by spkrtoy »

I think we had this on the old forum before it was hacked, so I'm starting it back up.

Here's my Brew system:

Image

Top left is a 15 gal converted keg for the HLT
Middle rt. is one of those commercial kegs that have the rubber tops and bottom that's insulated with 1-1/2" rubatex insulation for the mash tun. It has a SS false bottom and swivel dump. Those blue hoses underneath are dual counterflow wort chillers.
Bot. left is the boil kettle. The copper tube next to it is a built in hydrometer well with water jacket to chill the sample.
The pump on the bottom right has been put in a waterproof box and includes valves to do vorlaufing and moving sanitizer around.
Since this photo I've painted the stand red, white and blue and painted yellow the hazadarous areas, added a weatherproof electric connection and put red on all the valves that handle hot liquid.
There's a built in water filter as well as a hose for clean in place under the chillers.
There's a manifold for the propane as well.
The unit has wheels on the back to roll it around.

Feel free to post your's up!
Cheers,
Lyn

See those little knobs on the gas piping?

Seriously, I'm going to be adding a pump control soon. Harbor Freight has speed controls designed for ac motors. I bought one to test... if it works I'll be adding two to control flow rates during sparge.

Here is mine, it is a work in progress....

The control panel has to be taken apart and installed into the stand but it works the way it sits right now. The HLT and MT have 240v 4500w elements, the boil pot is NG.

That thing is purty!

Is that an off the shelf system or home made?

Those kettles look familiar. Did you change up from a tree system?

I'd post pics of my brew system if I had one.

That system looks really nice. Why did you choose to go NG for the kettle instead of sticking with electric?

100% Homegrown

It still has a ways to go before it is finished. The pots are scrap pool filter housings which make nice fermenters also...

Yeah, it used to be a 3 tier system. It sucked getting the HLT on top so I switched to a 2 tier. The main reason I switched is beacuse I got the stand for free...

NG is easier to control and it would draw too many amps for my breaker if I ran the HLT at the same time as the boil pot. The NG burner is really quiet so now I go an entire brewday without the deafening roar of propane burners, I can actually listen to music while I brew now...
