BrewPi Build

Post by romen »

I've been inspired to pull my RaspberryPi out of the closet and actually make something useful with it. If anyone else is interested in doing a group project to build a BrewPi temperature controller, let me know!

Do you have a link to the project you were looking at?

Greg has built one and has offered to guide us to building one like his. I'm not sure of all the specifics but it would be similar to what is shown here:
https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/a- ... ld.687390/

At a high level you need a raspberry pi, an adruino hero board, a 2 channel relay, some thermal sensors, and a bunch of electronics to wire it all together. I'm going to print a 3D case for mine similar to this one:
https://www.printables.com/model/18884-brewpi-case

I got to see his in action last week at our Pliny clone brew day and it's pretty slick how it learns not just the temperature but the rate of change in temperature to anticipate needed adjustment to heating and cooling to maintain a steady temperature.

Cool, no problem! Some of the components are cheap and only come in bulk, so we will have extra if anyone is interested now or in the future.

Quick update, this is the guide we will be following, which is a bit simpler than the other one:

And this is the case I'm printing this weekend to house the brewpi:
