Well, I FINALY got around to using this thing. As you may remember, I got a 30 gallon Boilermaker back in May or so and had not used it until last Thursday. I got it with the false bottom so I could use it as a mashtun.
The false bottom works really well. I was able to recirculate at nearly wide open on the pump without sticking the sparge. This grain bill had 2 pounds of flaked oats and 2 pounds or wheat in it. It took longer for the vorlauf to clear, but even at that, it still worked great. The sight glass was nice to have, I'd never brewed with one before.
Overall, quite a nice piece of equipment.
