I saw this link on the B3 forum. link If you are going to power your mill these low speed high torque direct drive gear motors seem a good way to go.

What a bummer, those motors used to be only like $35. I wish I would have bought one way back when. I'd love to get rid of the pulleys and have a direct drive mill.
