I needed a way to avoid exposure of the cooled wort going into the fermenting bucket.

It looks like you have it stream to the sides of the bucket to improve aeration too.

But if you happen to have a boil kettle that large, it sounds like it's time to ferment in a Sanke keg and get one of Derrin's keg fermenter kits from brewershardware.com
With the mouth of the keg being so small, it's quite simple to put the tube in, set the fermenter kit over it, and get minimal exposure to the elements.
