I was wondering if there is a risk to a better bottle when placed in water since the better bottle does not seem as sturdy as a bucket..

Oh yeah, no problem at all. The only thing you really need to worry about is if you are using an airlock. Since the BB is made of plastic, when you lift it with wort in it, the carboy will bend and suck whatever is in your airlock backwards into the wort. You can get by this by either using a blow off tube, or just waiting until you put you carboy/BB in it's fermentation location and then putting on the airlock then. Just be sure to remove the airlock when you move it again. A small piece of foil sprayed with alcohol or sanitizer is what i'd use to cover it between moves.
