Hmm... I've actually been brewing, so maybe I'll give this one a shot.

I have a Blind Pig IPA clone and a Blood Orange Blonde on tap right now... I could definitely enter IPA and fruit beer. Also have an O'fest in the keg and a pilsner fermenting, and I know the lager categories can sometimes be less populated.

I have to get off my a** and get a few beers into bottles, but I plan on entering.

Looks like I won't have my hefeweizen kegged in time, and I have 10 bottles, so I have room for 5 entries and only have 4 beers on tap.

Here are the beers:
1) Blind Pig IPA Clone
2) Pilsner
3) Oktoberfest/Marzen
4) Blood Orange Blonde Ale

I think #1 and #4 are limited to the categories American IPA and Fruit Beer.

If I wanted to enter #2 or #3 into multiple categories, since I have the extra bottles right now, which would you recommend?

Assuming it matters, the O'fest is 50% Munich, 25% Vienna, and 25% Belg Pils, with the below stats:
Original Gravity: 1.051 SG
Final Gravity: 1.014 SG
Alcohol by Vol: 4.9 %
Bitterness: 25.8 IBUs
Color: 6.2 SRM

Pils is 100% pils, liberally hopped with Saaz:
Original Gravity: 1.058 SG
Final Gravity: 1.016 SG
Alcohol by Vol: 5.5 %
Bitterness: 42.0 IBUs
Color: 4.0 SRM

You can also enter #1 as 34A, clone beer. I haven't had any experience in this category though so it may be a tossup for the judges. I think you'd get better beer feedback in the IPA category but you might do better in the clone category.

Depending on how it tastes, I'd say the pilsner could be entered into 1b, 2a, 3b or 5d.
The marzen probably belongs in 6a, but 2b seems like a good alternative .

I hadn't even considered the clone category, but then I read it and it's for clones of beers that "don't easily fit within the style guidelines". Since Blind Pig is basically squarely an American IPA, I'm going to stick with the IPA category.

I ended up with the Marzen in Festbier (4B) rather than Marzen (6A). It wasn't malty enough for 6A.

But good call on 3B. I was only going to put the Pils into 5D, but 3B is actually a better category for it. I'm still going to enter it in both though.

Entered a Dunkles Bock (6C). Got a first place at the recent Pacific Brewers Cup so am anxious to see if there is any consistency in evaluation on the scoresheets. I have some doubts, will see. Will let you know the info after the judeging. Good luck all!

Well there is rarely consistency in judging

There will always be differing evaluations when it will be different judges and the beer is not always the same bottle to bottle. Some contests will have higher quality judges.

I did not end up entering anything because I am lazy and didn't have any bottles.

I will be there judging though (inconsistently, of course).
