New RIMS tube
I'm about 90% done with the prototype but close enough for a few pictures. This is what it'll look like:
The disassembled tube. My little camera bent the tube!
The wort inlet is just sitting there and not welded in since the tube itself is only tacked up.
Shows the outlow cap including SS float switch to prevent your element from dry firing and the thermowell to monitor outflow temp.
Here's the outflow end of of it.

I think this post would be cooler if there were pictures.

Re: New RIMS tube
It is a lot of work and a surprising amount of material as well. That's why it'll be around $160 with clamps, gaskets and fittings but no element.jward wrote:UC Irvine is allowing the pics, and that tube looks like a lot of work to build.

Dang it Derrin. I've only done one batch since putting everything together and now you have me thinking about adding one of these to my setup. I currently have one unused BCS output/SSR just waiting for something to plug into it...

Shows ok for me now. Facebook is blocked at work, so that's probably the problem.

Try explaining to non-brewing friends that the device your making is a "RIMS Tube" and you should see the wide eyes!
