Just remember that big bold flavors and alcohol content are not synonymous. There are many great styles that have tons of flavor and not a ton of alcohol.

I'm rather similar. My taste buds only respond to bludgeoning. Jabs aren't even felt.

That said, 4% beers aren't necessarily weak flavored. I traveled over the years to Utah for work, and the brewpubs there have a limit of 3.2% ABW [4% ABV] for their beer. It's actually quite interesting to see what brewers are capable of doing to develop flavor in such low-alcohol beers.

That said, most of what I brew is in the 5-6% range. I plan on brewing a lot more frequently, though, and it should give me time to try a few session styles, especially as the summer approaches.

Yeah, the beer that I buy at the store, most people take one drink and give it back to me. Way too hoppy or dark. If I can't make anything meaner than blue moon or firestone, there's not a whole lot of point in brewing.

I don't think you'll have any problem brewing something with lots of flavor. HIgh ABV doesn't necessarily equal higher flavor though. It's definitely easier to start out with something lower gravity (and alcohol), but still with plenty of flavor.

No. Jon has a slightly off sense of humor and too much time with Photoshop. My guess is it was commentary on 3 posts in a row that were more or less one thought stream...

Just a guess.
