Pick Your Own Hops Field Trip?

Some of my friends who have grown their own hops locally gave me some to look at (see my avatar). I truly love the look and feel of hop cones. Seriously, I am going to get some hop cones tattooed on my left arm someday. However, I couldn't smell them like dried hop pellets.

I don't know much about using fresh hops in the boil or for dry hopping. I just want to go walk around a big hop farm and imagine myself at peace with the world. I might just buy a few pounds and spread them over my bed mattress and roll around in them like in the movie, "American Beauty" with the rose pedals.


Well, that visual image probably will creep some people out of carpooling with me...
