Small spots appearin on brew pot

I have a new brew pot that I have cleaned (with pbw) and did a test boil as I test all of the various connections, etc. Now, I am seeing very small spots on the bottom of the pot. When I run my finger over the spotted areas, I can feel a slight roughness to the surface. Running a wet sponge with dish soap does not remove the spotting.

What is this? How can I clear up the spotting?

What material is the pot? Stainless, aluminum? What color are the spots?

If it is a stainless pot, try a little barkeepers friend.
